“There is no issue, past or present, that will not go away.”
– from UNMASKED: The Power of Courage and Vulnerability to Live Free No More Settling, Shame or Self-Betrayal by Katy Huff

We are all on a path or journey to live a life of freedom, peace, joy, love, contentment, and happiness. It is a God-given right that He wants us to have and enjoy.

We get to have free choice of what we do, what we think, and what the plan is for our lives. As I said, we were not created for shame, guilt, judgment, or fear.

The battlefield of the mind is real, and hiding with a mask or in a cave will never set you free. In fact, when you isolate and retreat to your cave is when the battle in your mind explodes. Taking a small, limited time to pause, reflect, and evaluate what has happened and how to make it better is totally different than hiding, retreating, and running away.

I love what the late Jim Rohn has said: “I wouldn’t sign up for that course!” The journey to freedom and peace is a day-to-day process. Having awareness of what you are thinking and how that is affecting you is the first step to healing.

However, the belief is if we just wear this mask, no one else will see our mistakes or the real us. Or if we retreat to the cave with no communication and block the outside world out for as long as it takes to capture our discrediting thoughts, when we come out everything will be okay. Not!

Choosing to wear the veil or mask keeps us in bondage to the issues that we feel are so big and that will never go away. However, when we take off the mask and believe with all our heart that we are forgiven for everything—regardless of how big or small of a mistake we have made, the hurts we have, or the thoughts that take us captive—we are set free and in peace.

Remember, all is forgiven, and it is forgotten. In fact, there is a scripture that states, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:12)

Imagine that for a moment and just pause . . . From the east to the west, we have had all transgressions removed. Once again, it is finished! It is done! Never to be remembered or brought up again. There is no issue, past or present, that will not go away.

The saying “this too shall pass” is one truth that I recommend for everyone to adopt.

There is no hurricane or storm that will last forever. Just check the weather report; it is constantly changing. One thing for a fact is everything changes. Life is either getting better or not; however, hold on and it will soon change again.
