“What God brings us to, He will bring us through.”

You may have heard an iteration of this saying before by other preachers and motivational speakers, but what exactly does this mean?

You see, God is good, and He only wants the best for us.

In Jeremiah 29:11, God tells His people, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

If God wants the best for us, why do bad things happen to Christians?

James, the half-brother of Jesus, sheds light on this for us.

In his letter, James writes:

2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” – James 1:2-3

It’s a common misconception that being a Christian means you get an easy life, but that’s not true.

We will face many trials in life. That’s life. When we do face trials, what is our response?

We will consider it joy.

Why should we consider trials and the testing of our faith joy, though?

Jesus never said that we would have an easy life, but He did say that he would always be with us.

“What God brings us to, He will bring us through.”

How?

Because God is always with us, whatever trial you face in life, you don’t have to go through it alone.

Here are some Bible verses that tell us this:

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9 (ESV)

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” – Psalm 23:4 (ESV)

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6 (ESV)

“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” – Deuteronomy 31:8 (ESV)

No, we may not have easy lives or perfect lives, but, in Christ, we have the hope of eternal life!

Because God loves us, He is always with us.

Whatever God brings you to, He will bring you through it. It may not be the way you want it to look like or be in your timing.

However, whatever God brings you to, He will bring you through it because He loves you.
